Warnings and Precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Madras MR.
You have to follow the treatment plan prescribed by your doctor to reach normal blood glucose.
This means that apart from regular tablet intake, you observe the dietary regimen, have physical exercise and, if necessary, reduce weight.
During treatment with gliclazide require regular blood glucose (and optionally the sugar in the urine), as well as of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc).
During the first weeks of treatment the risk of lowering blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is increased. It is therefore necessary for medical monitoring.

Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) can occur:
If eat irregularly or skip meals;
if hungry
if you are malnourished;
if you change your diet;
if you increase your physical activity and the amount of intake of carbohydrates you do not correspond to this increase;
if you drink alcohol, especially in combination with skipped meals;
if you are taking other medicines or natural remedies at the same time if you take too high doses of gliclazide;
if you suffer from particular hormone-dependent diseases (impaired function of the thyroid, pituitary gland or peel over the kidney);
if your liver or kidney function is severely reduced.
If you have low blood sugar, you may experience the following symptoms: headache, intense hunger, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, sleep disorders, nervousness, aggressiveness, reduced concentration, reduced alertness and slowed reactions, depression, confusion, impairment of vision or speech , tremor (shaking), sensory (sensory) disorders, dizziness and feeling of helplessness.
May occur following symptoms: sweating, clammy skin, anxiety, fast or irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, sudden severe pain in the chest that can spread to neighboring areas (angina).
If blood sugar levels continue to fall, you may find yourself in a state of severe confusion (delirium), develop convulsions, lose self control, your breathing may be shallow and your heart beat to slow down, may become unconscious.
In most cases the symptoms of low blood sugar vanish very quickly when you consume some form of sugar, for example. glucose tablets, sugar cubes, sweet juice, sweetened tea.
For this reason, you should always carry some form of sugar (glucose tablets, sugar cubes). Remember that artificial sweeteners are not effective. Please contact your doctor or the nearest hospital if taking sugar does not help or if the symptoms recur.
Symptoms of low blood sugar may be absent, be less pronounced or may not be aware in time that your blood sugar dropped. This can happen if you are elderly and taking certain medications (eg. Those acting on the central nervous system or beta-blockers).
If you are in a state of stress (eg. Accidents, surgery, temperature, etc.). Your doctor may temporarily switch you to insulin therapy.
Symptoms of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) can exist when gliclazide has not yet sufficiently reduced the blood sugar, when you have not complied with the treatment plan prescribed by your doctor or in specific stressful situations. These symptoms may include thirst, frequent urination, dry mouth, dry itchy skin, skin infections and reduced performance.
If these symptoms occur, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist.
