Sao Palmetto (Serenoa serrulata) is a local species of palm-dwarf, occurring on the Atlantic coast of North America and in Western India. Early settlers and the local population used their fruits for genital, reproductive and urinary tract problems. For years, the plant has been widely used in Europe, Canada and the United States. Numerous scientific studies prove the benefits of Sao Palmetto for the urinary tract and the prostate. 50% of men over the age of 50 suffer from prostate adenoma (BPH) and 1 in 7 of this age is diagnosed with prostate cancer. Sao Palmetto may have the same effect in treating BPH as prescribed medicine. Various clinical studies have come to the same conclusion: when receiving São Palmetto, less urination occurs during the night, a stronger jet and a larger amount of urine.
The fruit of the plant is used, and its active ingredients are free fatty acids and sterols, standardized to 85-95%.
