WHAT ropinirole ACCORD AND WHAT IT IS USED
The active substance is ropinirole Ropinirole Accord, which belongs to a group of medicines called dopamine agonists. Dopamine agonists affect the brain in a manner similar to the natural substance dopamine.
Ropinirole Accord used to treat Parkinson's disease.
People with Parkinson's disease have low concentrations of dopamine in certain areas of their brains. Ropinirole has similar effects to those of the natural dopamine, so that it helps to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
Ropinirole Accord is used to treat the symptoms of moderate to severe restless legs syndrome.
Patients with moderate to severe restless legs syndrome usually complain of sleep problems or severe discomfort in the legs or arms.
Patients with restless legs syndrome have an irresistible urge to move the legs and sometimes the arms and other parts of the body. They usually have an uncomfortable feeling in the legs (sometimes described as tingling, burning sensation), which occurs during breaks or during periods of inactivity, when sitting or lying down (especially during sleep) and worse in the evening or night. Walking or moving the affected limb is usually the only relief which often affects sleep.
Ropinirole Accord alleviates discomfort and reduces the desire to move the legs or other limbs.

2. BEFORE YOU TAKE ropinirole ACCORD
If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, talk to him / her before you start taking this medicine.

Do not take Ropinirole Accord
If you are allergic (hypersensitive to ropinirole or any of the other ingredients of Ropinirole Accord (see. Point 4 and 6);
If you have severe kidney disease;
If you have liver disease.
Tell your doctor if you think any of these may apply to you.
Take special care with Ropinirole Accord.
Your doctor needs to know before taking Ropinirole Accord:
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant;
If you are breastfeeding;
If you are under 18 years of age;
If you have a serious heart complaint;
If you have a serious mental health problem;
If you are experiencing abnormal impulses and / or behaviors (such as excessive penchant for gambling and increased sexual desire);
If you have an intolerance to some sugars (eg lactose);

While taking Ropinirole Accord

Driving and using machines
Ropinirole Accord may make you feel sleepy. It can make people feel very sleepy and sometimes fall asleep very suddenly without warning.

Smoke and Ropinirole Accord
Tell your doctor if you start smoking or quit smoking while taking Ropinirole Accord. Your doctor may adjust your dose.

Taking other medicines:
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including any herbal medicines or medicines obtained without a prescription. Be sure to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you begin taking a new medicine while taking Ropinirole Accord.

Some medicines can affect the way you act Ropinirole Accord or are more likely to get side effects. Ropinirole Accord may affect the way other medicines work. These include:
antidepressant fluvoxamine;
drug for other mental problems, for example sulpiride;
HRT (hormone replacement therapy);
metoclopramide used to treat nausea and heartburn;
antibiotics ciprofloxacin or enoxacin;
any other medicines for Parkinson's disease.
Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any of these medicines.

Adoption of Ropinirole Accord with food and drink

Pregnancy and lactation

3. HOW TO TAKE ropinirole ACCORD
Always take Ropinirole Accord exactly as you have been told by your doctor. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Ropinirole Accord you may be given alone to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease, your, or you may be given Ropinirole Accord with another drug called L-dopa (also called levodopa).
Do not give Ropinirole Accord children. Ropinirole Accord is not usually prescribed to persons under 18 years of age.

How Ropinirole Accord have to take?
You may take some time to find out what is the best dose of Ropinirole Accord for you.
The usual starting dose is 0,25 mg ropinirole three times daily for the first week. Then your doctor will increase your dose every week for the next three weeks. Then your doctor will gradually increase the dose until you are taking the dose that is best for you.
The usual dosage is 1 mg to 3 mg three times daily (total daily dose of 3 mg to 9 mg). If your symptoms of Parkinson's disease have not improved enough, your doctor may decide to constantly increase the dose more. Some people take up to 8 mg Ropinirole Accord three times a day (total of 24 mg daily).

If you are taking other medicines to treat Parkinson's disease, your doctor may advise you to gradually reduce the dose of the other drug. If you are taking levodopa, you may have some uncontrolled movements (dyskinesias), when you first take Ropinirole Accord. Tell your doctor if this happens, as it may adjust the dose of medication you are taking.

Restless Legs Syndrome
You may take some time to find out what is the best dose of Ropinirole Accord for you.
The initial dose is 0,25 mg once daily. After two days, your doctor will probably increase the dose to 0,5 mg once daily until the end of the first week of your treatment. Then your physician may increase the dose of 0,5 mg per week for 3 weeks to 2 mg per day.
If improvement in your symptoms is insufficient dose of 2 mg per day, your doctor may increase the dose to a maximum of 4 mg per day. After 3 months of treatment with Accord, depending on your symptoms and your general health, your doctor will adjust your dose or interrupt your treatment.
If you feel that the effects of Ropinirole Accord are too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Do not take a higher dose than prescribed.

Taking your dose of Ropinirole Accord
Take Ropinirole Accord tid.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Accord Ropinirole can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Adverse effects of Ropinirole Accord may occur in patients who are subjected to this first treatment, and / or when the dose is increased. feel very sleepy during the day (excessive somnolence);
fall asleep suddenly without prior signs of sleepiness (sudden onset of sleep);
mental problems such as delirium (severe confusion), delusions (irrational ideas) or paranoia (irrational suspicions).
Very rare side effects:
A small number of people taking Ropinirole Accord (up to 1 in 10,000) had a change in liver function (elevated enzymes) found in a blood test.

Some patients may experience the following side effects
allergic reactions such as red, itchy bumps on the skin (hives), swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing, hives or severe itching (see. section 2);

5. HOW TO STORE ropinirole ACCORD
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use Ropinirole Accord after the expiry date stated on the carton after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Keep at temperatures below 25 ° C.
