What is Perfalgan 10 mg / ml solution for infusion and what is it used?
This medicine is an analgesic / pain relief / antipyretic and / antipyretic /.
The bottle of 100 ml is used in adults, adolescents and children weighing more than 33 kg.
The vial of 50 mg applies in term newborns, infants, toddlers and children weighing up to 33 kg.

It recommended for short-term treatment of moderate pain, especially after operations, as well as for short-term treatment of fever.

Before using Rerfalgan 10 mg / ml solution for infusion:

Do not use Perfalgan:
- If you are allergic to acetaminophen any of the other ingredients of Perfalgan
- If you are allergic to acetaminophen
- If you suffer from severe liver disease.

Take special care with Perfalgan:
- Use a suitable analgesic for oral administration as soon as this route of administration becomes possible
- If you have liver or kidney disease, or from alcohol abuse
- If you take other medicines containing paracetamol
- In case of problems with nutrition or dehydration

Taking or using other medicines:
This medicine contains paracetamol and should be borne in mind if you take other medicines containing paracetamol with a view not to exceed the recommended daily dose. Tell your doctor if you take other medicines containing paracetamol.

It is necessary to consider reducing the dose when used concomitantly probenecid.

Pregnancy:
Perfalgan can be used during pregnancy. However, in this case, the doctor should consider whether treatment is recommended.

Lactation
Perfalgan can be used during breastfeeding

Important information about some of the ingredients of Perfalgan infusion:
This product contains less than 1 mmol sodium per 100 ml of Perfalgan, i.e. pure sodium.

How to use Perfalgan?

Intravenous use:
The bottle of 100 ml is used in adults, adolescents and children weighing more than 33 kg / 11 years old /.

The vial of 50 ml is used in full-term newborns, infants, toddlers and children weighing up to 33.

Strict follow-up to the end of infusion.

Dosage:
Adults and children weighing over 50 kg:
1 g of paracetamol administration, i.e. a bottle of 100 ml to 4 times daily. Allow at least four hours interval between applications.
The maximum dose should not exceed 4 grams of acetaminophen a day, given all medicines containing paracetamol.

Using a starting dose:
For treatment of post-operative pain can be used a starting dose of 2 g, i two vials of 100 ml.

The minimum interval between application of a starting dose of 2 g and the second dose of 1 g, should be 6:00. After the second dose, the minimum interval between each administration must be 4 hours.
Using the starting dose is recommended in special patient groups.

Children weighing more than 33 kg, adolescents and adults weighing less than 50 kg:
15 mg / kg paracetamol administration, i.e. 1.5 ml of solution per kg, up to 4 times daily.
Allow at least four hours interval between applications.
The maximum daily dose should not exceed 60 mg paracetamol per kilogram per day, given all medicines containing paracetamol.

Children weighing more than 10 kg and under 33 kg:
15 mg / kg paracetamol administration, i.e. 1.5 ml of solution per kg, up to 4 times daily. Allow at least four hours interval between applications.
The maximum daily dose should not exceed 60 mg paracetamol per kilogram per day, given all medicines containing paracetamol.

Full-term newborns, infants, toddlers and children weighing less than 10 kg / about age 1 /

7.5 mg / kg of paracetamol administration, i.e. 0.75 ml of solution per kg to 4 times daily. Allow at least 4 hour interval between applications.
The maximum dose should not exceed 30 mg paracetamol per kg per day given all medicines containing paracetamol.

Route of administration:

Paracetamol solution is administered by intravenous infusion over 15 minutes.

For children the volume of solution that needs to flow is 1.5 ml per kg per administration.
The solution may also be diluted in 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% glucose solution to a one to ten.
The diluted solution must be checked visually and should not be used if there is opalescence if observed particles or precipitates.
If you have the impression that the effect of Parfalgan is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor.

Possible side effects:
In rare cases can occur: weakness, drop in blood pressure or change the results of laboratory tests: unusually high levels of liver enzymes in blood tests. If this occurs, tell your doctor as you may need regular follow-up blood tests later.

In very rare cases can be no serious skin rash or allergic reaction.
Immediately discontinue therapy and contact your doctor.
In isolated cases were no other changes in the results of laboratory tests, which require the regular monitoring of blood counts, lower than normal levels of certain blood cells which can lead to bleeding from the nose and gums. If this happens, tell your doctor.
