Oxylyc is a nutritional supplement with a balanced antioxidant formula based on powerful active ingredients known to be beneficial in fighting free radicals.
What are Free Radicals?
Free radicals are atoms or a group of atoms that have a free electron in the outermost layer of their electronic envelope. Most often they are formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules. The free radicals are very unstable, so after their formation they react instantly with other compounds or elements. As a result of this reaction, new unstable compounds are formed which, in turn, are also highly reactive. Thus, a chain reaction is initiated leading to the formation of new and new highly reactive elements and compounds that can damage the cells of the body after reacting with important cellular structures such as cellular DNA or cell membrane. To protect against the damaging effects of free radicals, our body has a protective antioxidant system.
What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are molecules that safely interact with free radicals without themselves converting into unstable compounds and interrupting the chain reaction they cause before they damage organisms that are vital to the body.
The antioxidant protective system is made up of enzymes, vitamins and trace elements, which function in close correlation.
Action of the active ingredients:
Vitamin E - fat soluble vitamin, the most widespread and most effective antioxidant in the human body. Its effect is particularly effective at high oxygen concentrations, so its levels are highest in lipid structures exposed to direct oxygen - the erythrocyte membrane, the epithelium of the respiratory system and the skin.
Vitamin C - the most widespread antioxidant in the human body from the group of water soluble compounds. It acts mainly in the intracellular fluid. Particularly important is its role in neutralizing the free radicals formed as a result of cigarette smoke and environmental pollution. Helps restore other antioxidants in their active form.
Provitamin A (beta-carotene) - a fat soluble vitamin, an antioxidant that is very effective at low oxygen concentration. Therefore, it is said to complement the antioxidant action of vitamin E. Part of provitamin A is converted to vitamin A (retinol), which has no antioxidant activity but plays a key role in a number of vital processes. The role of vitamin A in the formation of ocular pigments as well as in the growth of epithelial cells, skeleton and reproductive organs has been proven. Increases the body's resistance to cold and infectious diseases. Damaged epithelial tissues, as a result of vitamin A deficiency, often become subject to infections, which is why vitamin A is called the "anti-infectious" vitamin.
Selenium - a mineral that is part of one of the enzyme systems neutralizing so-called hydroperoxide free radicals that damage lipid structures in tissues. Selenium and vitamin E mutually enhance their effect as antioxidants. Selenium plays an important role in the normal functioning of the pancreas, which is necessary for the absorption of vitamin E. Vitamin E, in turn, reduces selenium losses in the body and maintains it in its active form.
Lycopene - a plant pigment of the carotenoid group and a powerful antioxidant. Carotenoids give the red, orange and yellow color to fruits and vegetables, e.g. Carrots, pepper, tomatoes. Ricony tomatoes are the richest in lycopene.
The lycopene molecule is so built that it can be linked to free radicals that could otherwise damage the cells. Therefore, it protects cells from oxidative damage. It is thought to reduce the risk of developing colon cancer cells. In addition, lycopene may positively influence the metabolism of cholesterol due to its antioxidant properties.
Recent studies have shown that it can also increase sperm concentration in infertile men.
Antioxidants, neutralizing free radicals, prevent cellular damage and hence some diseases of:
