WHAT LORISTA IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?

Lorista H is a combination of angiotensin II receptor antagonist (losartan) and diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide).
Lorista H is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension / high blood pressure 

BEFORE YOU TAKE LORISTA H

Do not take Lorista H:

- if you are allergic to losartan, hydrochlorothiazide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- if you are allergic to a group of medicines called "sulfonamide derivatives"
- if you are more than 3 months pregnant
- if you have severely impaired hepatic function
- if you have severely impaired kidney function or your kidneys do not produce any urine
- if you have low potassium, low sodium, or high levels of calcium that can not be corrected by treatment
- if you suffer from gout

Take special care with Lorista H

- if you have had swollen face, lips, throat and / or tongue before
- if you are taking diuretics
- if you are on a diet with limited salt intake
- if you have or have had severe vomiting and / or diarrhea
- if you have heart failure
- if you have narrowing of the arteries to your kidneys or if you have only one functioning kidney, or you have recently had a kidney grafted
- if you have narrowing of the arteries, angina
- if you have "aortic or mitral stenosis" or "hypertrophic cardiomyopathy"
- if you have diabetes
- if you have had a gout
- if you have or have had an allergic condition, asthma or a condition that causes joint pain, skin rash and fever
- if you have high calcium and low potassium levels or are on a low potassium diet
- if you are going to have anesthesia or before surgery or you are being tested for parathyroid function, you should tell your doctor or medical staff that you are taking losartan potassium and hydrochlorothiazide.
- if you suffer from primary hyperaldosteronism

You should tell your doctor if you think you are pregnant. Lorasta H is not recommended in early pregnancy and should not be taken during pregnancy after the third month as it may cause serious harm to your baby if used at this stage.

ACCEPTABLE WITH FOODS AND DRINKS

We advise you not to drink alcohol while taking these tablets: Alcohol and Losartan tablets can mutually enhance their effects.
Excessive dietary intake of salt can counteract the effect of Losartan tablets. These can be taken during or without food.

PREGNANCY AND BREAST

Pregnancy

Lorista H is not recommended in early pregnancy and should not be taken after the third month of pregnancy, as it may cause serious harm to your baby if used after the third month of pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

Lorasta H is not recommended for mothers who are breast-feeding and your doctor will choose another treatment for you if you are breast-feeding, especially if your child is newborn or was born prematurely.

Use in children and adolescents:

Lorasta H should not be used in infancy.

Use in elderly patients

Lorasta N works equally well and is treated equally well by most adults and younger patients. Most older patients need the same dose as is used in younger patients.

DRIVING AND MACHINING

When you start treatment with this medicine, you should not take any special care until you know how to take the medicine.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING SOME OF THE LORISTA INGREDIENTS

Lorasta H contains lactose. If you know your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, talk to your doctor before taking the medicine.

HOW TO TAKE LORISTA H

Your doctor will decide which is the right dose of Lorasta H depending on your condition and whether you are taking other medicines. It is important that you continue to take Lorasta H for as long as your doctor prescribes, this will ensure a constant control of your blood pressure.

The usual starting and maintenance dose for most patients is 1 Losartan H 50 mg / 12.5 mg daily. If necessary, your doctor will increase the dose to 2 tablets of Losartan H 50 mg / 12.5 mg once a day or 1 tablet of Losartan HD / losartan 100 mg / hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg / day.
The maximum daily dose is 2 tablets a day, Lorista H.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Severe allergic reaction / rash, pruritus, swelling of the face, lips, mouth or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing /
This is a severe but rare side effect that affects more than 1 in 10,000 patients but less than 1 in 1,000 patients.

The following undesirable effects have been observed:

Common - cough, upper respiratory tract infection, nasal congestion, sinusitis, sinus disorders, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, muscle pain, leg pain, backache, insomnia, headache, weakness, increased potassium levels

Uncommon: anemia, red or brown spots on the skin, low white blood cell count, clotting problems and bruising, loss of appetite, increased levels of uric acid or gout, increased blood sugar, anxiety, nervousness, panic disorder, confusion, depression, sleep disturbance, drowsiness, memory impairment, numbness and tingling or similar sensation, pain in limbs, tremor, migraine, loss of consciousness, blurred vision, burning or stinging in the eyes, conjunctivitis, yellowing of the objects, various noises in sewn low blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, heart attack, palpitations, inflammation of the blood vessels often associated with skin rash or bruising, sore throat, shortness of breath, bronchitis, pneumonia, water in the lungs, nose bleeds, secretion nasal congestion, nasal congestion, constipation, gout, nervous stomach with stomach cramps, dry mouth, inflammation of the salivary glands, toothache, jaundice, inflammation of the pancreas, itching, itching, skin inflammation, rash, sweating, hair loss, hand pain shoulders, hips, knees, swelling of the joints, muscle weakness, frequent urination, decreased sexual desire, impotence, facial swelling, fever
