WHAT LEUKERAN AND WHAT IT IS USED
LEUKERAN belongs to a group of medicines called cytostatics. It is used to treat certain types of cancer and certain diseases of the blood.

2. BEFORE YOU TAKE LEUKERAN
This medicine is suitable for most people, but for some it should not apply. Before starting to check whether the use of LEUKERAN is correct in your case and whether LEUKERAN medicine is suitable for you.
If you answer "yes" to any of the following questions, tell your doctor before you start taking this medicine:
Have you ever experienced an allergic reaction or sensitivity to chlorambucil or any of the other ingredients of LEUKERAN?
Are you pregnant?
Do you plan to become pregnant, respectively recent paternity? LEUKERAN can damage your sperm, ova and / or baby. It needs to use contraception to avoid becoming pregnant while you or your partner are taking the drug. Ask your doctor for advice.
Do you breastfeed?
Immunized you or do you plan to be immunized with a live vaccine?
Do you agree or is there likely to take phenylbutazone, while receiving LEUKERAN or shortly thereafter?
Undergoing you currently / have you been recently subjected to radiotherapy and / or chemotherapy?
Have you had seizures or fits?
Do you suffer from liver or kidney disease?

3. HOW TO TAKE LEUKERAN
Take LEUKERAN, just as you have been told by your doctor. It is important that the drug be administered at the right time.
The dosage of the drug is individually different. Only the doctor can change it in the course of treatment.
The tablets should be swallowed whole with water. Tablets should not be crushed, chewed or powdered.
In different periods during treatment with LEUKERAN Your doctor will monitor your blood to determine whether a change in dose.
If you are having surgery, inform the surgeon or anesthetist that you are taking LEUKERAN.

If you take more dose LEUKERAN
If you take too high a dose LEUKERAN or any of your entourage, especially children, has taken the drug by mistake, tell your doctor immediately or call an ambulance.

If you forget to take LEUKERAN
If you forget to take a dose, contact your doctor. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, LEUKERAN can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
There is evidence that LEUKERAN can cause cancer in some patients treated with the drug for an extended period of time.
The formation of cells in the bone marrow can be reduced.
In women may have irregular menstruation.
In men can stop or disrupt sperm production.
Some people have allergies to medicines.
If any of these symptoms appear soon after taking LEUKERAN STOP taking the drug and seek immediate medical attention:
sudden wheezing, difficulty in breathing, pain or tightness in the chest;
swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, mouth or tongue;
extensive skin rash or hives on the body.
Tell your doctor immediately if during treatment with LEUKERAN are experiencing any of the following events:
if you feel good, you have loss of appetite, diarrhea, vomiting, or mouth sores;
If you notice signs of jaundice (yellowing of the skin and / or whites of the eyes);
if you feel unusually tired or if you notice signs of rash, fever or infection, for example. cystitis;
if you receive unusual bruises or bleeding;
if you get seizures;
if you develop a persistent cough or feel short of breath;
If you notice signs of numbness or weakness of the muscles;
if you feel jerky movements.

5. HOW TO STORE LEUKERAN
Keep out of reach of children.
Keep at temperatures between 2 and 8 ° C.
Do not use LEUKERAN after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
It is recommended that after you stop taking the drug to return unused tablets to your doctor or pharmacist to be stored or disposed of safely.

What LEUKERAN
The active substance is chlorambucil. Each tablet contains 2 mg of chlorambucil.
Other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, anhydrous lactose, anhydrous colloidal silica, stearic acid, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, synthetic yellow iron oxide, synthetic red iron oxide and macrogol.
