Lekalpin belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers, which block the entry of calcium into the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels that carry blood from the heart (arteries). Entry of calcium into these cells leads to contraction of the heart and arteries to narrow. By blocking the entry of calcium, calcium channel blockers decrease (contraction) of the heart and dilate the arteries, reducing blood pressure in this way.
