The extracellular matrix (ETC) represents the cell environment (cell microenvironment). It is a scaffold (supporting, supporting structure) and corneal cells.
Extracellular proteins (matrix proteins) are integrated into a complexly organized network (mainly collagen and elastin), which are linked by polymers (glucosaminoglycans and heparan sulphate). Glucosaminoglycans and heparan sulfate bind and protect matrix proteins and therefore tissue integrity.
The ECM supports cell homeostasis, containing all cellular signal proteins (proteins for intracellular communication - cytokines and growth factors) and interacts with glucosaminoglycans and heparan sulphate.
Therefore, the EMC has a key role in cellular communication, through which tissue strengthening processes are triggered, implemented and regulated. In other words, the EMC retains the tissue architectural integrity and regulates cellular behavior.
Various etiology and pathological mechanisms of corneal damage cause degradation of glucosaminoglycans, resulting in the protection of matrix proteins, which also degrade and dissociate the ECM cell environment. Then natural processes of repair (recovery) are triggered. In some cases (chronic ulcers), however, for various reasons, recovery does not end, and it enters a vicious circle of healing and destructive processes that are difficult to go with standard therapy.
Cacicol is a structural analogue of glucosaminoglycan and heparan sulphate. It restructures and protects the corneal tissue from proteolytic degradation in these chronic pathological conditions and breaks the vicious circle. In fact, it directs processes toward repairs by mimicking the natural microenvironment of the cell, replacing degraded heparan sulphate and interacting with structural and signal proteins. The molecule belongs to so-called regenerating agents that improve the quality and speed of tissue healing by stimulating natural regeneration processes.
Cacicol is a potential alternative to treatment, a non-invasive therapeutic approach to the management of corneal neurotrophic ulcers. It provides effective reepithelization in neurotrophic ulcers not eligible for standard therapy. Suitable for: herpes infections, chemical burns, mechanical trauma, corneal refractive surgery, toxic keratopathy, severe dry syndrome, Mooren's ulcer, etc. Conditions that led to chronic therapeutically resistant corneal ulcer. It is advisable to use a prescription.
Features:
CACICOL belongs to the family of RGTA (regenerating agents) that improve the speed and quality of tissue healing. It stimulates the natural process of regeneration of tissues, aids treatment of extracellular matrix and reduces pain.
Ingredients: Poly (carboxymethylglucose sulphate), dextran T40, sodium chloride, water for injections.
Soluble without preservatives.
How to use CACICOL:
Method and route of administration
ONLY FOR EYE APPLICATION!
Wash your hands thoroughly before use.

Do not use in patients below 18 years of age.
Do not use during pregnancy or lactation.
Use the product exactly as prescribed by your ophthalmologist.
Do not use in case of active eye infection.
Do not use with local antibiotics belonging to the group of aminoglycosides such as neomycin or gentamicin.
Do not use with solutions containing silver salts, iodine or copper (the ions may form complex with the molecule).
Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if the packaging is damaged.
Do not open the package with a tool and do not touch the surface of the eye with its tip.
Do not inject or swallow.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Patients sensitive to heparinoids or heparin may receive a local reaction that does not compromise the curative effect. If it is too strong, stop the treatment and contact your eye doctor as soon as possible.
If you get any side effects, talk to your ophthalmologist, pharmacist, or directly with the manufacturer.
Storage conditions:
Keep unopened unit-dose packs in the aluminum packaging to protect from direct light at a temperature between 4 and 25 ° C.
