WHAT amlodipine alkaloids AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?

Aplodipin is representative of a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers. Used to treat high blood pressure and a type of chest pain known as angina, a rare form of which is Prinzmetal's angina or variant. In patients with high blood pressure Amlodipine acts as relaxes blood vessels so blood flows more easily through them. In patients with angina Amlodipine improves blood supply to the heart muscle, which thus receives more oxygen and as a result to prevent chest pain. Amlodipine does not provide immediate relief of chest pain angina.

BEFORE taking amlodipine

Do not take Amlodipine:

 If you are allergic to amlodipine or other calcium channel blockers, or to any of the excipients in the tablet. Allergies can occur with itching, redness and difficulty breathing.

Taking other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Tell your doctor if you are taking sildenafil because of increased hypotensive effect in combination with amlodipine.

Pregnancy and lactation

Before taking amlodipine, tell your doctor if sste pregnant, think you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. He prefers not to take Amlodipine during pregnancy. If you become pregnant during treatment do not forget to share with your doctor. Amlodipine should not be taken during breastfeeding.

Important information about some of the ingredients of amlodipine

Amlodipine contains lactose monohydrate. If your doctor has warned that the manifest intolerance to some sugars, talk to him before you start taking this medicine.

HOW TO TAKE amlodipine

Always take Amlodipine exactly as your doctor has told you. If you're not sure, ask.

The usual dose is 5 mg once daily. Subsequently, the dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily based on individual response.

It is best to take amlodipine at the same time each day with water. It is important to keep taking Amlodipine, unless your doctor has told you otherwise.

If you take more than the dose

You should immediately contact a doctor. Symptoms of overdose may include severe dizziness, fainting, fast heartbeat.

If you forget to take Amlodipine

If you accidentally forget to take your daily dose, continue with the next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

The most common were headache, edema, rash, fatigue, nausea, flushing, dizziness, swelling or tenderness of the gums, palpitations.

The following effects have been observed in some patients, but the relationship to treatment with amlodipine is unclear: heart attack, irregular heart beats and chest pain. All medicines may cause allergic reactions. Serious are very rare
